Hey Cellar Door, wanted to ask you a question. I have recced your incredibly excellent podfic The Progress of Sherlock Holmes to my dear friend lunchee (another Sherlock podficcer) and she mentioned in her email back to me that she loves it and that she thought you might also be working on a podfic of Infiltrate by ladiflowdi and mirrorskippy? Is that true? I would be delighted if it were, I only ask because I am also recording it exceedingly, exceedingly slowly and if you are recording it I might just abandon ship and go on to another long podfic I'd like to record. It is a great story, and I want to do it justice, but I've got ton going on in my RL right now that keeps me from doing more than a very little at a time. And I know that if you record it, the finished product will be exquisite...

OK, I am glad to hear it! However, I have been mulling it over and I think that I am going to discontinue working on Infiltrate if you're recording it. Not based on any disparagement of myself or my podfic skills in relation to yours, but because at heart I'd rather there just be one great podfic version of this excellent tale, I don't see the reason or the need for two versions. I know you will do it justice, and this frees me up to work on podficcing another story that I very much want to record. I knew I wouldn't get to it for several months because I am only 4K into Infiltrate (about 30 minutes), and I anticipate that it will be in the 7 to 8 hour range to record entirely. Plus, I've just got a LOT going on in my personal life right now, so I don't mind paring down my list of obligations. I know that mirrorskippy and ladyflowdi will understand, they were very charming to work with when I recorded Needing is One Thing, Getting is Another. I look forward to hearing Infiltrate when you get it done, it should be marvelous with your aptitude for accents and the subtle communication of emotion...if you need a beta listener or anything, happy to help! Cheers, crinkly

Cool. I will now start working on podficcing a long Avengers story called Semaphore by DevilDoll - I have been bitten by the Avengers bug, and I think this story is interesting and hilarious and sweet but unsentimental, which is just the way I like it. It's also a bit easier for me to pull off without the Brit accents, since all the main characters are American. And yes, I would be delighted if you would take a listen to Needing is One Thing - and actually, it is the prequel to Infiltrate, and Infiltrate references a few events from it such as the pool explosion and the subsequent kidnapping of Sherlock, so there's that to recommend it. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, it was a very well-written story and lent itself well to the spoken word. Plus it's fun to do a wacked-out Moriarity, I ended up watching the pool scene several times to try and get the intonation right. Do take me up on beta duty, I have been happy to listen to other's work in the past - though yours seems to be exceedingly error-free, not sure if you need my help....!

Yes, FayJay's very talented, great story and great podfic, I loved that one too. I meant to tell you that I am delighted you are recording Birds to a Lighthouse, I remember that one as being lyrical and lovely and packing an emotional punch that had me quite impressed, so another good choice of story. You can reach me at crinklysolution@livejournal.com, whenever you want me to beta. I usually just put my stuff up on mediafire and send the link to whomever is betaing it. Looking forward to hearing what you have recorded! Cheers, crinkly
